Get your deposit money back!

In the Netherlands there’s a deposit on plastic bottles and cans. So, please don’t throw them away, but hand them in at any supermarket instead, where you can get your deposit back. That’s only fair, since you’ve already paid for it!

Why hand them in?

Why hand them in? There’s a deposit on bottles and cans! We like to keep our city clean, so throwing your rubbish in the bin is great. But throwing away bottles and cans is like throwing away money! Rubbish bins get looted for the deposit on bottles and cans, leaving a real mess. Handing in bottles and cans allows for them to be recycled as well. Therefore, please hand in your plastic bottles and cans at any supermarket instead.

Can you hand them in at all supermarkets?

Yes. It doesn’t matter where you’ve bought the plastic bottle or can. You can hand them in at any supermarket. In return you’ll get your deposit back. It’s easy as one, two, three:

  1.  Go to the nearest supermarket with your empty plastic bottles and cans.
  2.  Insert them in the reverse vending machine and collect the receipt.
  3.  Go to the cashier with your receipt to collect your deposit.
